All About the backyard sports club
Connecting the World Through Sport!
The Backyard Sports Club was originally thought up in 2021, starting off as an excuse to play spike ball and ping pong during school hours. Meeting once a month, we realized, although we had very few members, that our club consisted of many "different" individual, creating many friendships through the mutual love of backyard sports.
In the fall of 2022, South West Florida and its residents were left destroyed by the devastating Hurricane Ian. When coming back to school after the hurricane, Laith and Joseph realized that the school was lacking the energy that made the school come alive. For this reason, they decided to bring upon the revival of the Backyard Sports Club and host a giant school-wide ping pong tournament. When the tournament had started we had a total of 32 kids signed up, but we had near 100's of kids crowding around the table to watch and cheer on their friends. It was the sense of community this tournament provided that led to the start of "A Canterbury Movement". Through the rest of the 2022 school year, the club moved to push the boundaries for what is known for a school-based club. The club is continuing to grow with no end in sight!
